Any Jeep owners here??
My wife and I are seriously considering buying a Jeep. We are looking at a 2014 Wrangler 2-door with the Sahara package. This will be her daily driver. She works in sales in the Etown area so the majority of driving will be city driving.
Any Jeep Wrangler owners here?? If so how do you like your Jeep??
Thanks

Luckily she doesn't care for the Renegade, though we did drive a 2018 Cherokee yesterday.Dustin wrote:My Wives 2018 Renegade is POS.
As she texted me the other day, she wants a Jeep Jeep!!

My experience has shown me that you either have tons of problems or don’t have any. I know people on both sides of the fence. My buddy has had nothing but trouble from his 17 limited Grand Cherokee and and a couple people with wranglers and they don’t have any issue. None of these vehicles are being wheeled (off-road) mind you.Dustin wrote:Get one before fiat bought Jeep. They have gone down hill.

I've worked on the girlfriend's 2001 & 2008 Wranglers enough to feel like they were mine. I've only really enjoyed it a few times and that was during deep snows. Get a Jeep to be a Jeep, not an SUV

What work did the Jeeps need?? Routine maintenance type stuff or more major work?

Re: Any Jeep owners here??
Being that my job deals with dealers, shops and private owners I feel I get to see the bigger picture than most, and I 100% agree with this when it comes to Wrangler, Cherokee, and Grand Cherokee. The other less Jeepy Jeeps, not so much. Most of those seem to have more issues like Dustin's. On a side note, lots of vehicles over the years have been studs or duds with little in between like that. The Taurus and Explorers were majorly like that. Impala and Malibu also. Either 300k with 3 oil changes and a single tune up in their whole lives or more time in the shop than on the roads, very little in the middle. 24+ years of seeing pretty much all sides, I've come to the conclusion that it really is 99.9% luck of the draw for the most part with any vehicle. 1 vehicle can be the crown jewel of vehicles and the next EXACT vehicle behind or in front of it on the assembly line is a total lemon it's whole life. Just my 2 cents.1fastmach1 wrote:My experience has shown me that you either have tons of problems or don’t have any. I know people on both sides of the fence. Re: Any Jeep owners here??
Consumer reports and recalls and tech bulletins and personal experiences on jeeps prevent me from ever considering buying one again.
I would almost bet its your wife that is considering it? We have noticed a major upswing in city women (or just in general) driving the jeep brand.

Re: Any Jeep owners here??
I can't recommend jeep anymore. I've owned 5 and my parents have had several more. They used to be great vehicles but after the last 2 having all the issues they've had, I won't have another.. my 05 is sitting in the backyard with a cracked block.. trying to decide whether it's worth a new motor or not.

Re: Any Jeep owners here??
I have had, and worked on multiple Jeeps- Wranglers (4), Cherokees (2) and Grand Cherokees (1)...
Unless they offered the lifetime warranty again on a new one, I won't own any more Jeeps. They were bad enough when Chrysler had them, with all kinds of electrical and sensor issues, but I think Fiat said "hold my beer' ...

Re: Any Jeep owners here??
I have driven Jeeps nearly my whole life, from Scramblers to TJ and a few ZJs and XJs too. The newer one you are looking at hopefully has the major bug's worked out of the engine. The aftermarket for Jeeps is amazingly huge, to the point of comical.
One thing to remember, they are called Jeep trails for a reason, not Toyota, Nissan, Subaru (which I love), or any other vehicle manufacturer.
Buy it, put a few dents in him and love it.

Re: Any Jeep owners here??
Yeah Fiat screwed Jeep over. Removing 3mm from the frames and other structural downgrades. A good early TJ or YJ would be the trick.kokopelli wrote:I have had, and worked on multiple Jeeps- Wranglers (4), Cherokees (2) and Grand Cherokees (1)...

Re: Any Jeep owners here??
Tell that to the people that live in harsh environments and drive in deserts and real life shit. They don't drive Jeeps. Here is a hint, it rhymes with Toyota and Nissan.Toecutter1978 wrote:I have driven Jeeps nearly my whole life, from Scramblers to TJ and a few ZJs and XJs too. Re: Any Jeep owners here??
Buddy has a new loaded grand cherokee and he has lost count of how many times he has had it in the shop and no signs of slowing down with the issues. All the Fiat hate isn't unwarranted but lets not talk like chrysler was making winners we all loved before though, that's crazy talk.

My daughter and son-in-law have a pair of Jeeps (he's a "Jeep guy"), a 2016 Grand Cherokee and a newish Wrangler, can't remember what year it is though. Every time I talk to her one of them is getting something fixed. She's about over the whole Jeep ownership thing.
