RECALL: Ruger Issues Safety Warning For MKIV Pistols
http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2017 ... v-pistols/
There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.

ALL PISTOLS manufactured before June 1st, 2017 are being recalled. If your serial number doesn't start with "500", it needs to go back.

"Ruger has just announced a safety recall for their new MKIV pistols. Apparently certain guns have been found to have the ability to fire when the safety is placed between the “safe” and “fire” positions and the trigger is pulled. The potential also exists for the gun to fire when the safety is moved from the mid positition to “fire” after pulling the trigger and not having a round discharge."

"In particular, if the trigger is pulled while the safety lever is midway between the “safe” and “fire” positions (that is, the safety is not fully engaged or fully disengaged), then the pistol may not fire when the trigger is pulled. However, if the trigger is released and the safety lever is then moved from the mid position to the “fire” position, the pistol may fire at that time."
"I don't retreat; I kick ass in the other direction."

I know mine falls into that group, but if I can't make it do that, it isn't going back... I've already swapped all the internals for Volquartsen stuff and hiviz front sight also. If I can't replicate that failure, it's not doing back. I don't want to change it back to stock and return it unless I absolutely have to...

If you do have to send it back, definitely put it back to stock because if anything needs replacing, the new parts will be removed. Sometimes they are returned, sometimes not. Better safe than sorry.

I wonder if it also applies to the 22/45 LITE model

(edited) Well, I just answered my own question -- quoted from Ruger's site

"All Mark IV™ pistols produced prior to June 1, 2017 are potentially affected and therefore are being recalled. This includes Mark IV™ Target, Hunter, Competition, 22/45™, 22/45™ Lite and 22/45™ Tactical models. These models bear serial numbers beginning with "401" (2017 models) or "WBR" (2016 models)"

Also, something worth passing on -- upon signing up my 22/45 for the retrofit, this popped up

"We will make every effort to return your grip frame assembly to you within one week of receiving it. When we return your grip frame assembly, we will include a free magazine ($29.95 value) as a "thank you" for your participation and cooperation. (Note that customers in states with magazine shipping restrictions will receive a ShopRuger gift certificate in lieu of a magazine)."

I got my pre-paid shipping box to return my Mark IV bottom end for recall today -- hope the turn around process doesn't take as long as this first step took.
