Key-bar
Anybody have one or have something similar they got from another place or made their own based on design? Let me know what your thoughts are about them if you do have one or something similar. Everybody has keys so this seems practical and I have been kicking the idea around for a while.

Re: Key-bar
Been seeing these for a while. With the massive key fob for the car though it's kinda pointless.

Re: Key-bar
Several people I know carry them, but it just did not fit my needs.
They are super quiet
Its easy to recall just where a given key is in the mix.
Its easy to use the key in the lock.
The bad
You can break a key real easy, you can just apply so much pressure so easy.
You cant put keys on it that have a rubber or plastic coating so you end up with both a ring and the bar.
You cant leave it in some ignition swithes, and its stiff nature ends up turning off the ones you can at times.
Its a pain left in your pocket, its heavy with no flex.
I run equipment so i have a plastic rubber coated key for every make you can think of. Having so many keys i have learned to hang them from my belt while at work, and leave the ring in my truck if not at work. My personal keys have a house key, car key,and that push button door trunk thing. Other then that i just dont want to haul a bunch of keys around.

Re: Key-bar
I would love one of these, but I probably have 20-30 keys at any given time. Just doesn't make much sense to have one.

I would think the rigidity would be hard on a cars key ignition.

Re: Key-bar
I use one for padlock and house keys and don't have my thick plastic bike or car keys on there.
If you want to see if you like it just use a bolt and nut and attach a bunch of keys together. The fob is basically a fancier version of that idea.

Re: Key-bar
Hmmmmm...kydex. Cut out the design, use whatever length of screw is needed for the amount of keys being held.

Re: Key-bar
This is a better idea. My wife bought me one of these things for Christmas. I hated not to use it. So I tried it out with my work keys for alittle while. I hated the thing. Used it for a week or two but would bruise my legs up while working on trucks. If you carry more than 10 keys. It's just not practical.Bama wrote:Hmmmmm...kydex. Re: Key-bar
Okay, I had to google what a key-bar is.
Hey some even have a bottle opener.

There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.

Re: Key-bar
I recently got a key-smart. Its pretty nice for 6 keys. Its has a ring for bigger stuff like car fobs or in my case a work key fob. They were 2 for $20 with shipping.
Here's another place that has them on special.

You can't tease us and say how cool it would be in kydex when you stopped making kydex!Bama wrote:Hmmmmm...kydex. Cut out the design, use whatever length of screw is needed for the amount of keys being held.

I would think the same weight dangling and swaying from corners would be harder?bigelowe wrote:I would think the rigidity would be hard on a cars key ignition.

If you have a dremel and a drill, I can send you scrap pieces of Kydex and hardware to make one.jackalo626 wrote:You can't tease us and say how cool it would be in kydex when you stopped making kydex!Bama wrote:Hmmmmm...kydex. And I'm not 100% out of the game yet. Have a buyer ready to take it, when I'm ready to let go.
