Laptop repair
I'm looking for a reference to a person that can repair my laptop. I need them to be in Louisville and would prefer SW Louisville or downtown. Thanks.

What's wrong with the laptop?iron369 wrote:I'm looking for a reference to a person that can repair my laptop. I need them to be in Louisville and would prefer SW Louisville or downtown. Thanks.
There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.

It refuses to connect to the Internet. I run Windows 10. It was working fine, updated, and then my troubles began.WLJ wrote:What's wrong with the laptop?iron369 wrote:I'm looking for a reference to a person that can repair my laptop. Re: Laptop repair
If wireless is the wireless seeing a router?
If so is it connecting with the router?
Did it work and then stop working because there been some report of an update causing issues in this area.

Re: Laptop repair
I found a video on YouTube to reset the protocol but it was not effective. The command prompt said the protocols were reset, but it didn't fix the problem.

Re: Laptop repair
Have you tried this?
In order to reset the TCP/IP network stat, follow the steps below:
1. Go to the command prompt.
2. Type in the following command: netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
3. This command will rewrite the required registry keys for the TCP/IP to function correctly. If this does not fix the problem, then proceed with the next solution.
Reset the Windows Socket Using netsh
1. Go to the command prompt.
2. Type in the following command: netsh winsock reset catalog

Re: Laptop repair
I had that issue with my surface. It kept saying I did not have the rights to do something. I just redownloaded win 10 and it fixed that issue.iron369 wrote:Why does it tell me access denied when I'm logged in as the administrator?

Re: Laptop repair
Are you logged in as admin or as a user it says is an admin?iron369 wrote:Why does it tell me access denied when I'm logged in as the administrator?
Reason I asked is that one of the more retarded things in 10 is that you may think you have admin rights but you don't. The real admin account with full admin rights is disabled by default in 10.
But not really retarded when you consider windows is just trying to protect itself

Re: Laptop repair
To activate the real admin account in 10
at the CMD type: net user administrator / active: yes
You may need to reboot and then sign out of the default to see the account. You should have full permission after that.

It's sometime referred to shorthand as the CMD

Re: Laptop repair
Know how to open search?
enter netsh in the search box
It should then show up in a list
Open file location
right click on netsh
Go to properties

Re: Laptop repair
If your in the admin account it should be down on the task bar.
If not right click the start icon and select search.
But I'm going to have to break off here and do some reading.
i think something may have mess with your network files, Seen viruses do that. Or badly written third party software as well.
But one last thing
Put this in the command prompt: sfc /scannow
That scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct versions.
