Activists block road near LMPD
http://www.wdrb.com/story/29379760/acti ... fop-letter
So our police response to them breaking the law and blocking hard working people from making it to work on time is........lock the doors, hide in side the head quarters, and stand down. So in essence tell them its ok to break the law because your feelings got hurt. Cops should have been on the streets forcing these scum bags to protest legally....with a permit and on the fucking sidewalk! If they dont abide by that then arrest them....PERIOD! But no instead cops are told to tuck their wieners back, bend over and take it all. Cops should have been out in force and turned these clowns into speed bumps if they didnt want to move out of the road. Im glad i dont ever have to go to that area of town. Stop letting these fuckers get away with breaking the damn law!

so basically the cops did the exact opposite of what the FOP letter said they were going to do.Rem700 wrote:http://www.wdrb.com/story/29379760/acti ... fop-letter

Re: Activists block road near LMPD
I respectfully disagree.
Yeah, these folks are probably bozos and wackjobs, but I like it whenever somebody gets off their ass and tries to do something about an issue they feel strongly about.
Even if they're wrong.

And not a day of work was missed.
There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.

In the cops defense (gasp) they are Damned if they do and Damned if they don't. I want criminals handled by the law and I want people not breaking the law to be left the hell alone.

Re: Activists block road near LMPD
I agree with the sentiment, but not breaking the law cause your feelings are hurt. That's wrong. If you want to protest....have at it....the legal way. These people simply wanted to cause chaos and the police let them which reinforces that they are untouchable because of their race and ideas.Frailer wrote:I respectfully disagree.

Im tired of the double standard because of all the racial tension. Bottom line is if your breaking the law, be held accountable for your actions. The color of your skin and the ideology in your head don't matter.

Re: Activists block road near LMPD
I work 100 yards from the demonstration and there was a shitfuckton of people in the road. I suspect it was to big of a crowd for LMPD to control without much more advanced planning and barricades and gear. The batton down the hatches and ride it out approach may have been the best route to prevent bloodshed. Do I agree with it? No, but I think it might have been the safest option for all.

Re: Activists block road near LMPD
As I sat at dinner last night while working(after two great citizens came up and told me they support us and support what Dave Said), I looked at all the good people in the restaurant having a good dinner and felt sorry for them. Because THEY are the ones that will suffer from this. They are the innocent, good tax paying citizens that will get the disgruntled cop showing up to their house when they are victimized. They are the ones that will get stopped for a stupid traffic violation and will get the asshole cop that doesn't care anymore. They are the ones that will suffer when cops just give the fuck up because they always feel like it doesn't matter if they care or not.
I love my job, and have always loved my job, but this crap is taking a toll on the ones that try really hard to do the right thing. The cops that proactively get out there and hunt for the criminals, are starting to give up. The mindset on the department is "make the calls and that's it". Why risk pulling over a car for a minor traffic violation when you can't win? Why say you are going to go after the criminals when your own department won't back you unless it doesn't cause the west end to act like animals in the streets?
People are mad in the streets because they think cops are judging a group of people(black people) based on the actions of a few, yet they are judging the entire police force based on the same exact thing. It's ironic, and it gets old. I still try to come in happy and to do the right thing, but it's only a matter of time before cops are 100% responsive, and do the bare minimum to get by.
To all the good people out there that remind us that they support us, thank you. You reminders are what fuel me to continue trying.

Re: Activists block road near LMPD
Thanks Mike for all that you all do. We know its not an easy gig and its getting harder by the minute. The more our own "leaders" stand up and fuel the fire the more it comes back on you all as officers. I hope that we as a nation can move past all this quickly but i fear that we havent even come close hitting bottom yet. Be safe and again thank you!

Well said, Mike

Re: Activists block road near LMPD
Thanks Mike and all the other hardworking ,honest LMPD officers.
Also, i wondered how long it would take before the all the b.s. started to take a toll on the police force. The leaders of this city ( and country ) are making it hard for you to do your job. Damned if you do, damned if you dont.
