Updated: What's it worth?
I'm thinking about selling my AR and would like to get a fair price eval from the members here as it's hand built. I didn't want to post in classifieds as It's not technically for sale yet. Thanks all!
Aero Precision lower
DPMS: Lower receiver parts kit, standard stock
Magpul: MOE Pistol Grip, Trigger guard, BAD lever, Asap sling point
Aero Precision Upper
BCM Gunfighter Mod4 charging handle
Magpul: MOE Carbine Handguard, MVG vertical fore grip
Troy rear folding BattleSight
JP Adjustable A2 front gas block sight
IWC Mount-n-Slot sling point (for Magpul MS2/3 slings)
YHM Phantom 5C2 flash hider
Daniel Defense M4 contour 1/7 twist 16" CHF barrel
BCM Bolt carrier group & firing pin
I wanted high quality, DD Barrel, BCM BCG, Troy sight, JP Gas block, but didn't want a specific brand. If built today, all parts (including misc unlisted) total well over $1200. However.... what is a reasonable asking price / sell price?

Re: Updated: What's it worth?
A year ago you probably could have gotten $1700 out if it. I'm with mike. There's no shortage of rifles anymore and home built ones don't carry the price tags that factory built ones do in the used market. I'd say probably $800 max, but you never know, someone might pay more.

I would think $700-800 at best also. It's a very basic home built AR with a good barrel and BCG. Hope you don't take that as a bad thing, not meant to be. Just my reason for the cost. Market is REALLY whored up with AR's and AR parts right now.

I would agree. We all know the AR bubble has burst. A Colt can be bought for $699 with extra mags and a case now. You'd make more money parting it out.SeymourSkinner wrote:Home built? 600-700. Id part it out before id sell it complete
Re: Updated: What's it worth?
Thank you guys for the honest responses. I knew the market was soft, but I never figured it was this bad. Ultimately, I'm looking to part with my ffl purchased lower and swap for a non-4473 / f2f one. Just a personal preference I guess.

So, sell the lower & use the one you want. A complete lower should bring around $250, or more, depending on the parts in it.

Thought about that. I have an opportunity to buy a full spikes AR w/ keymod handguard, but I can't get just the lower. Oh well. Gotta be honest though... finding a stripped lower is rather hard these days though.

Re: Updated: What's it worth?
oh please sounds like you are worried like you are on a "list"
you are already on the list....save money and purchase a new lower online
though if you are that paranoid and wear that tin foil hate too tight, someone here will sell you a stripped lower for double what they sell online...

Re: Updated: What's it worth?
If you don't sell the gun via an FFL, they would still assume you have it. Also by posting you want an off 4473 lower on a public forum you are now probably on 3 more lists :p
Re: Updated: What's it worth?
Thank you for instantly assuming that I'm paranoid, crazy, or insane. I completely appreciate the non-constructive way you just labeled me and turned this thread into something it wasn't.shelbygoat wrote:though if you are that paranoid and wear that tin foil hate too tight...
Am I on a list... yea, I'm sure somewhere. And I do understand the need to use a FFL to get my rifle back out of my name. However, with all the problems that we're seeing in NY, NJ, and other states, it really wouldn't surprise me if "they" don't start tightening the restrictions on transfers more. Honestly, I don't really care if I'm on a list or not, nor do I have a problem with my name being on a 4473 somewhere. I'm not trying to eliminate a paper trail for myself at all. However, when I die, there are certain weapons I'd like to own that I can pass to my children without any worries about them being on said list. I love my country, religion, and freedom... I just want to make sure that my kids get to enjoy those as well, and have the tools to protect themselves from any who would try to take their freedoms away.
Please understand that the following statement is said with sincere honesty and absolutely zero sarcasm (since it's not uncommon to be misunderstood via text )
It's a bit disheartening to be labeled paranoid when we all have posted in other threads here how this country is going to hell with stupidity leading the way.

I get what you're saying but I honestly don't expect guns to go any sooner than oil. Its all scare tactics and political
Games. There is too much money to be had in thr firearms industry and too many people want it. The last big inflation
was a result of fear not our government knocking on doors or anything... did they say they were going to do tighter gun laws? Sure. Did they? No. So I wouldn't stress too much over what is going to happen 50 years down the road. What is said on here is all in good fun for the most part. Get to know some of the guys and enjoy the forum.
