Crossfit

Post by shelbygoat » Mon Mar 05, 2012 5:38 pm

Anyone do it? I have been doing a watered down version of it as its the new Army PT. Today I just joined a dedicated Crossfit gym to up my fitness level as I have "plateaued" working out on my own. Been busting my ass for 8 months now, changed up my workout 3-4 times, now need something different to help me get to the next step.

I've done it. It sucks, but it works if you get into it.

I have quit weight lifting pretty much altogether. My favorite workouts involve a really large tire. I like to flip this tire i found at a local school football field til im about to puke and then put my feet on it for elevated pushups and after that some jumping up onto it and back down. Its about 15 inches thick. It weighed 248 lbs new so who knows how much it weighs now after tread wear. Some times I bring my sledge hammer out and hammer on it for a while righty and then lefty, but over winter I haven't done it at all. I mainly run and chop wood. I feel stronger than i ever did when i was just hitting the weights.

Crossfit

Not to be bragging or anything but yes, I have a steep hill in my yard and I can flip it up the hill even. 10 times in a row so far. Its mainly technique though. I been flippin tires for little over 2 years now. If I had to guess, I'd say I could flip a 600 pounder maybe once or twice if it was the right shape.

No bragging. Everyone is at different levels. I can flip a tire but haven't done one that large of a size yet. These classes are really kicking my ass, but now I am off the plateau and losing weight once again which is good.

My friend that got me into this stuff has 2 tires that are larger than mine and have the metal wheel still in them. His neighbors hate when he goes. Out to flip and bang em around lol. BONG BONG BONG!

Have you tried any of the barefoot running stuff?

Lmao. I have heard that a really tall thin tire that may weigh less than a thick fat heavier one may be impossible for some people to lift. Requires more grip and range of motion.

My wife loves it. Her brother and sister in law own two crossfit gyms in Ouray and Silverton Colo. They are crazy about it with bad ass bodies.
