Front sight question
I own a A2 receiver
I'm considering purchasing this
I want to swap receivers and end up with
Is this as simple as it looks (for someone with proper tools and knowledge) or is there more to it?

Going to McDonalds for a salad is like going to a prostitute for a hug.

Re: Front sight question
I didnt know if the FSB was "pressed in" or factory installed in such a way that removing it and re-installing it would cause any issue

It is pinned in place. Not difficult to get back into position.

If you want to sell the A2 upper let me know.

Re: Front sight question
Ive been on the hunt for a 16" light weight A2 upper for some time, I don't anticipate selling it anytime in the near future -- unless of course I get it put together and end up hating it, lol.Dustin wrote:If you want to sell the A2 upper let me know.

Re: Front sight question
yes and with the ch and bcg removed you can push the gas tube in to remove it so you can get the barrel nut wrench on it,you will need snap ring pliers for the delta ring alsoRedRocker wrote:Im guessing the gas tube is held in place at the FSB with a pin?Ar-Rob wrote:I would remove the gas tube instead of the fsb

Re: Front sight question
There is a very slight height difference in front sight posts meant for flay top uppers versus A2 uppers with a flat top front sight being about .04" taller. Don't know what that really means as far as zeroing and accuracy over distance, just something to keep in mind.

Didn't know that -- hopefully there is height adjustments on each end to remedy that (I know my receiver has both height and windage adjustments.ssracer wrote:There is a very slight height difference in front sight posts meant for flay top uppers versus A2 uppers with a flat top front sight being about .04" taller. Shouldn't be an issue. I've installed several barrels with flat top (F marked) height FSB's into A1 and A2 uppers and never had an issue getting them zeroed.

Re: Front sight question
You will want just the right length FF tube ... and you will end up replacing the barrel nut assembly...RedRocker wrote:I got it finished. Now I think I wanna swap the magpul handguard for a tube style free float rail.

And anything more than about 7" and you will have to replace the FSB ... as the tube will not clear the FSB.
And you will definitely end up at least driving the taper pins out of the FSB so you can slide the tube in from the muzzle end of the barrel... Other options are out there as well ... Just need to decide on which ones you want/need...

Re: Front sight question
Nothing wrong with just keeping the MOE on it either unless you just want a different look. You can add small rail sections for lights and and grips.

Re: Front sight question
That's the nice thing about ARs...you can do pretty much whatever the hell you want to them to make them yours..lol. Like said before, must make sure you get the right length to fit behind the FSP and you should be good...but you're gonna have to take it all apart again. It's like Legos for adults...lol

Re: Front sight question
Agreed. My ARs all have MOE forends. Since I don't have one for long range shooting (I have bolt guns for that), I never saw the need for free-float, full-length rails.ssracer wrote:Nothing wrong with just keeping the MOE on it either...
