"Build-A-Bear" AR style??

Post by RedRocker » Sat Aug 01, 2015 12:50 pm

Just wondering if anyone knows of a trustworthy website where I can shop from a variety of uppers, barrels, rails, muzzle breaks, sights, etc and have it built and shipped to me? I know I can buy the parts from countless places, but I'm just not interested in investing the tools and time to build it myself. I don't necessarily want a "high-end" build, but I want to avoid buying something close, then having to swap parts afterwards.

Where are you? I'm sure somebody on here is close enough to loan the tools, or help you with assembly. If you are in Louisville, I would do it, but all of my AR smithing tools are packed for our move.

I'm in Louisville and can help you with most AR15 related assembly also. There is really nothing to it after you have put a few together.

I would look for parts here: http://www.palmettostatearmory.com Good parts at good prices. Uppers can be bought complete no assembly required. Lowers can also be bought assembled but need to be sent to a dealer. There are plenty of dealers on here as well to help you. Cranky is a great one to use(CW Shooters Supply)

I live in Charlestown. I've almost pulled the trigger a couple times on PSA's site, but the assemblies they have would have me swapping a part or buying a part I have no use for. I have no problem buying the components from PSA, as long as I can get built by someone that's done this a time or two, has the tools, and don't mind helping me out.

Bravo Company is good about offering their uppers in just about every configuration imaginable. I bought my complete upper from them exactly the way I wanted it. My complete lower was purchased from G&R Tactical, who built it out with every part I could ask for.

No matter who you go with you will probably end up having to install some simple parts yourself... anything that attaches to the rifle with 1913 rails, keymod, or M-lok would typically be installed by the end user.

Thanks, I purchased a real nice 5.56 BCM pistol/SBR upper about a year ago, you're correct about all the available builds offered. I'll give it a look, my last upper from BCM closed in on $500, before BCG, CH, and forearm, I'd like to try to stay near or under $400 for my next one. Basically I got the bug to shoot 300blk out of my SBR. And I'm real close to getting my 7.62 Can stamp.

Check BCM current pricing. I know they have some sort of deal going, so they might fit the budget.

I ended up buying a 12" upper from PSA, it was priced to well to pass up. I may still end up with a barrel swap down the road, but this complete upper was well within my budget and comfort zone. Thanks everyone for your suggestions.
