BROKEDED MY 1911

Post by pturner40215 » Fri Jun 15, 2012 11:15 pm

In the procsess of being Mr. Fix it when it ain't broke.... I managed to break the screw that holds the mag release off INSIDE the mag relaese button.... Seems as if the head of the screw has broken in half, while the other half is still in tact and so is the actual body of the screw....Yee Haww

Any info on lowering my blood pressure would also be greatly appreciated right about now....

Shouldn't need a new mag release, just the screw. Its kind of a fussy part, the mag release needs to be depressed just slightly til you find the "sweet spot", then the screw turned counter clockwise to relieve the spring tension.

Don't suppose you broke it by forcing it the wrong way? If you did, it should be relatively easy to get it out cause the side of the screw head that remains is all you need for the driver to bear on.

Got her fixed and running again, aparently the gun has never been all the way broken down and the set screw on the release was seized in the groove... after some un-gentle persuasion she's back in action

Thanks Guys
