A blue color is a temper temperature
In fact red heat and quenched is a how O-1 steel is hardened
Yellow/blue is drawing heat
So if you polish your gun receiver bright and then heat it up with a torch to blue and then oil it or duck in oil
The reciever is now been drawed again
It has become softer.
Use only for non hardened items
Like butt plates and screws.
In the vid he does that to a reloading die.
Now it is soft steel

Simple
Heat above critical temp
Cool off
Either with a oven or a bucket of quench
fluid.
Air is a quenching fluid.
Quench depends on steel
W -water
O- oil
A -air
Tempering (drawing) reheat at lass than critical temp and cool
Blue color with a torch is more heat than yellow
