I found this to be very uplifting and positive. Two years old, but hopefully it's been widely circulated.

Good read. I really wish that the LEO's in this area were better informed/trained. In most cases there isn't a problem, but I have encountered more than one John Wayne type who thinks all civilians are scum and treats them as such.

I realize they have a job to do, and that they want to go home safely at the end of their shift, but there is no reason to treat every person they encounter like he suspects they are John Dillinger. The vast majority of us are their allies (or would be, given the chance), but they never even try to consider that. To them we are just "perps", even when proven innocent. A little consideration and tolerance can go a long way towards vastly improving police/public-at-large relations. As it stands, many normal, law-abiding people are more afraid of cops than the thugs.
