No CCW on military base.
I will be heading down to FT Benning in December to watch my son graduate from Basic training. I plan on driving and staying in hotel for a couple of nights for the festivities. There is lots of conflicting information on the interwebs about civilians taking guns on base, mostly that it is not allowed. No way in making that drive without my EDC. What are my choices?

According to the base rules. You can keep the gun in your car as long as it is not loaded and in a locked container. Hope this helps.

Re: No CCW on military base.
I don't really care about carrying on base, but I don't want to leave it in my hotel room either. I guess I will call FT Benning and ask if it's possible to check it at the gate or notify them of its presence in my truck. Then go from there

Re: No CCW on military base.
Just get a car safe that you can tether to the seat frame with a steel cable. Get one with a keylock, no electronic BS.
Any time I have to leave my weapon in the car, I lock it up in my car safe. I have one in each of our vehicles. Is it absolutely impregnable? No, a determined thief with adequate tools could defeat it, but very few thieves who break into vehicles come equipped with adequate tools to do so.
It's a cheap fix, and has worked very well for me for many years.
Crush, kill, mangle, maim, destroy.

Here's the source for Spyder's post. Just follow the rules. Easy stuff. Unload it, put it in a case, lock the case, put it in your car, and make sure it's out of sight.
