CCDW Instructor Update (KY REvised Statutes)

Post by ChopperDoc » Fri Oct 25, 2013 9:05 am

Got an update in the mail yesterday about changes made to the Kentycky Revised Statutes.

(KRS) 237.110 has been amended to allow military personnel that have had at least 4 hours of handgun training to use that in lieu of a certified course from an instructor. If they can prove that training they will be give a copy of the Statues on self defense and use of force. They can turn that info in to the local Sheriff instead of the training certificate to apply for the CCDW permit.

Now, here is the problem I foresee: What is going to satisfy as the proof? I carried a handgun for my entire career, qualified at least once a year and there is nothing on my DD214 and I was never issued any kind of certificate of training. MPs may get this, but they were already considered qualified (like any police officer) under other sections of the KRS.

I will update as I find out more.

"You rarely rise to the occasion, you usually just sink to your lowest level of training."
