First time I had to pull my gun in defence!

Post by burn360 » Sun Jul 01, 2012 2:36 pm

I was meeting my ex wife in WV to get my son back. He was with her for the summer she lives in NC. Unknown to me a big storm went thru Friday night and the entire state had no power. I stopped in Lewisburg WV to get gas and found out no one had power and I was on empty. Got a hold of my ex and she was gonna bring me 2 5gal gas cans so I could get to a gas station with power (closest one was 90 miles away). When she arrived and I got the cans out filling up people crowded around her wanting to know where she got gas and 2 men walked up behind me circling to each side of me with what I thought were obvious intentions. My father (a 70 year old 26 year army vet) was behind them and drew his pistol. When I saw them I set the gas can at my feet and removed mine from its holster holding it at my side. Luckily that was the end of the confrontation and they turned and left.

Seems like that's all it takes for some now, just lose power for a few hours.

Of course you know what they say?
It's all relative in WV
There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.

I need to get my GHB repacked and back into my car too. You never know when you're going to need it, like in your case. Just going to get your son almost turned into a self defense/stranded with no supplies scenario.

What was it I read one time?
That WV does not legally exist because for it to do so the Virgina State legislature would to have had voted on it and they never did. Something called the American Civil War got in the way.

I need to look that up again.

First time I had to pull my gun in defence!

Post by nemo » Sun Jul 01, 2012 4:23 pm

I went down to rescue my mom and sister from Katrina in '05. I had gun on my side and 4 mags of 9mm loaded everywhere I went, the pastor at the church was not too pleased. I also brought MREs, snacks, 5 gals of water and 5 gals of gas. It was a war zone in the east side of town I had to drive 30 miles around the city to get where I was going. I knew what I was getting into to but still felt under prepared. Uncertain times make animals out of decent folks.
Oh, how so high they fly........ only further to fall.

I always have a GHB in the car. never know when you might be spending the night there.

I always attempt to keep 1/2 tank in the car on long trips.

Glad you and yours made it out safely.

Hearing stories like yours scare me to death to think of what the world would be like in an actual SHTF scenario. That happened to you with the power only being out for a few days; can you imagine how nuts ppl would be after a week or two of no electricity/water/food/etc.?

It kinda sucks to know that the majority of the population would not be able to handle themselves at all when/if the shit hits the fan.

I'm glad to hear that nobody got hurt and that you didn't end up having to actually fire uour weapon.

32 days without electricity.

They did it for a reason.

Yep. I tried explaining that to my family when I started telling them to be more aware of what's going on. They acted like I was crazy. I was at work for the first week, got to come home after six days or seven. I had to invite a guy to leave my road (dead end) after he made four trips through driving around and then parking at the end of the road and just sitting in his car with the lights out.

Need to start thinking about a GHB for each vehicle. We do seem to be faced with extremes with weather lately. The ice storm was a perfect example of what could happen.

Stuff like that really does make you think about how crazy it would be in a true nationwide SHTF scenario. Glad you and yours got out ok.

I've known burn360daddy for about 13 years or so. He looked 70 then too lol. First person to take me shooting, and LAST person I'd ever want to be in a gunfight against.
