Re: Bearded Dragon q&a
Do they lay all over eachother because they are competing for warmth from the light or is that just part of their personality? They do it quite a bit.

Where did you order them from?Mike wrote:Pretty cool how they all get their own little attitudes. I ordered all new uvb lighting for all mine. Bought a high output T5 grow lights and 10.0 uvb bulbs. These are good looking lights anyways but the uvb is an added bonus.

It seems to be a bit of both. Part of being beardies, I guess.Niceguy wrote:Do they lay all over eachother because they are competing for warmth from the light or is that just part of their personality? They do it quite a bit.

I bought one fixture on ebay. It's a jsv4 t5 grow light. I then found the bulbs here cheap. Shipping was free.

These are good lights and good prices.

I picked up a light timer and double light shield and a few bulbs to play with, also some more crap to go in the tank. It just didn't seem warm enough for them to me. I got a little thermometer and new lights have it at 90 outside of the direct light. The one new "daylight bulb" is damn near hot enough to burn you 6" or so away from it.

Also, 2 different times today 2 of them were scrapping. 2 different times a few minutes apart while I was messing with the new light...Just for like a second or two. Rolling around like a cat fight. I watched for a while to see if it was the same two or one of them starting shit with the other two. Is that normal behavior for this young? I wouldn't have thought there would be any fights until breeding age.

I'm going to have to do something like that. My setup is going to have to evolve.Mike wrote:rustynuts wrote:Where did you order them from?Mike wrote:Pretty cool how they all get their own little attitudes. Re: Bearded Dragon q&a
Pretty normal behavior, but not always. Beardies are solitary and somewhat territorial and don't do well in a community setting long term. Usually babies aren't so bad, but seems you have a couple that aren't too happy with each other. My guess would be two males, but that's not necessarily the case.Niceguy wrote:Also, 2 different times today 2 of them were scrapping. 2 different times a few minutes apart while I was messing with the new light...Just for like a second or two. Is it one that's instigating the tussle? If so, set him up in a separate tank ASAP before you wind up with missing tails or toes. All three will eventually have to be segregated though.

Not sure. I keep watching to see. Both times all 3 were close together and I wasn't paying attention. This was the first time I noticed them doing it. I keep watching and they haven't done it again. None of them are acting standoffish and all are still laying all over eachother.

Re: Bearded Dragon q&a
I thought so. That's about 5 cents per adult roach, plus a ton of little babies running around in there. And a free tote that's nicely set up with heat and ventilation.Niceguy wrote:Nice!!rustynuts wrote:I just picked up another colony of dubia roaches in a clandestine Craigslist transaction. Re: Bearded Dragon q&a
You stole those bugs! I have made more money off bugs than people would think. My colony is absolutely huge and growing like crazy.
I'm down to two last babies from this group and expect the next eggs to hatch within a week or so.

Re: Bearded Dragon q&a
I know, right! I was just scrolling through Craigslist the other day (saw your ad, by the way) and came across the ad for the roaches. Didn't need them, and they were asking $25 for them then. Opened up Craigslist again this evening and saw the ad again so I sent a text asking if they still had them. Will they take $15? Yep. Sold! Be there in an hour.Mike wrote:You stole those bugs! Re: Bearded Dragon q&a
Did you have to wholesale any of them out?Mike wrote: I'm down to two last babies from this group and expect the next eggs to hatch within a week or so.
And what was the hatch date(s) on that batch?

September 22nd is when they started hatching out.
I sold 7 of them to Sandy's Petshop. The rest were to individuals.
I should have eggs hatching again any day now!!

You can leave a heat light on at night as long as it is dark(or red). They need the darkness to sleep.
You won't go wrong with a warm light at night but it's not needed if it's not too cold. I don't use them but my room is a bit warmer than most.
