Are you allowing those to air out or anything before you fill them up? Are those sticks a bunch of random non Cubans or what?

Man oh man... I always struggle with the issue of "should I tell them or not". If it's one thing I know, that's cigars. If i was in this situation I would want to be told. If for one thing, the store you got them from is trying to pass fakes off as real. That 2003 EL is indeed a counterfeit. That main band does not fit the time period of that cigar. That is a poor copy of a current band. The 2003 EL used the band prior to the ones used these days. Remember, roughly 90% of the Cuban cigars in this country are fakes. IF that cigar was indeed legit... it is well beyond it's prime. Generally speaking, a cigar rested for longer than 8 years tend to lose the charistics that made them so great. After a while, they are just collectors. YMMV

Thanks 1fastmach1,
I think I'll stick to the non cubans from this shop then. He always has good prices compared to other shops, charged me 15 for that stick. I wonder if he is getting hoopscooped too. He never pushes the Habana's, only when I ask if anything special in stock. Told me a friend always brings him back a box from Canada when he goes.
Wow the more I think about what you said the more ignorant I guess I am regarding stogies except I like a good one.
Ok the new wrapper is one thing but selling fakes with date past their prime (which I didn't know 8 yrs and they go downhill) is real silly when I think about it.

Most shops prolly don't realize the difference. At least if like to think they wouldn't purposely sell fakes.

As far as price, general production Cubans are generally cheaper then any premium non cuban. A good liga privada stick goes for around $15 a stick. My favorite cuban that I smoke fairly regularly goes for about $7 a stick give or take. The taxes are what kills you. I guess we can be glad we aren't in Canada for the sake. A $7 stick here would cost $30 in Canada. They have the luxury of buying Cubans though. A cigar forum I frequent has mostly Canadian member and they all buy online to avoid import and sales taxes appropriated by the Canadian government.

Very nice medic. That a pretty large stash. Now you gotta dig to the bottom to get a stick. I see you have some my father. They make some good stuff.

I hate being the bearer of bad news. I've cut them open before and found some rather unsettling contents. Wood chips, rat feces, paper and other gross stuff.
