48' ft container on vehicle trailer = fail... most companies would not have allowed him to leave with that thing on anything less than a semi trailer........

Re: dumb people section
sounds about right, which a typical car hauler should be able to handle that, probably on goose neck trailer though and def not being towed by a minivan.....Im actually suprised he was able to move with that thing, im guessiong it took him over a mile to get up to speed lolBIGC wrote:rougly about 4k pounds if I remember correctly

Re: dumb people section
the moving it is not the problem. The average vehicle could get it moving but their brakes are grossly under power to stop the damn thing once they are rolling...

Re: dumb people section
a quick google search
How big are Pac-Van portable storage containers? What does a container weigh?
Standard lengths are basically 20' and 40'. There are 8'/10' and some 45' containers available while most other lengths need to be constructed. 20's weigh a little over 2 tons while 40' containers weigh between 3.5 and 4.2 tons.

Re: dumb people section
if indeed it was a 40 footer that would be 8,000 lbs. requiring a trailer with brakes and at least a 10,000 pund towing capacity assuming the trailer only weighed 2,000 lbs. Thus a mini wan wont cut it, and a valid medical card would be required to tow the damned thing. lots of laws broke here i hope they throw the book at him. these clowns are the ones who make cdl drivers look bad as most folks will assume he was doin it legal

Re: dumb people section
googled a little more in depth than my first run, says an empty 48' is 10,500 tare weight....
48 foot steel cargo containers available for sale. 48 foot long x 8. 5 foot wide x 9. 5 feet tall
United States domestic standard containers are generally 48 ft (15 m) and 53-ft (rail and truck)

hahahaha yeah I just seen this! About 10,000 lbs is the tare weight in these. We unload these and I schedule them in and out. A minivan pulled it like a "bauce" but got pushed like a chump lol!BIGC wrote:googled a little more in depth than my first run, says an empty 48' is 10,500 tare weight....

That is one of the most amazing and ridiculous things I've ever seen. Wtf is wrong with people. Someone could have easily been killed.
You better call Kenny Loggins. Cause you're in the danger zone.

Re: dumb people section
One time in Baghdad camp.... we were hauling an empty ISU container on the back of an LMTV to a team house and we hit one of those crappy arches they put over the roads over there. The ISU started to slide off the back and we stopped before it fell. It was about 3 feet off the back of the LMTV flat bed for the rest of the trip. LOL No need to put up the "Keep back 500 feet" sign LMAO Cars were staying way back. To get under the arch we used the CTIS to deflate the tires and roll under it and reinflate them.
Re: dumb people section
