How would you react to this at the range?

Post by WLJ » Sat Sep 22, 2012 12:07 pm

There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.

Idiots... I trust a lot of my buddies enough to do the same if the chance of an accident wouldn't excist... Accidents do happen and one shot (AD/ND) in the wrong direction and their day would have ended totally different.

I probably would have said something about it.

I would have definitely stopped them and gave them a good talking to. I won't go down range to check targets at the local range unless every rifle has the chamber showing clear one way or another. If someone doesn't (i.e. bolt forward) I have no problem asking them to do so.

Range safety is everyone's responsibility.

If it was a range I rarely used, I'd probably drive away.

If it was a range I used frequently, I would have walked up to the shooter and told him that while I'm sure he wasn't going to shoot his buddy intentionally, accidents happen. Since it would only take one death or serious injury to shut down a public range it's our responsibility to be extra careful to avoid losing an asset that all shooters in the area enjoy.

I'd *want* to take the rifle from the shooter, walk downrange, slap his buddy upside the head, and call them both dumbasses.

I think I would have had to said something. Politely, and respectfully, as one can be when talking to a fucking dumbass, but I would have said something I'm pretty sure. But it would be dangerous to do so. I'm just at a point in life where danger is irrelevant. I figure I'm going out somehow, why care how. Calling out an idiot at the range probably wouldn't best me.

Ideally, I'd have left a FAL buttstock imprint on idiot shooters head. I'd have stolen all his ammo. and kicked "target boy" in the nuts, 3 times.

I actually saw something very similar to this take place at new haven one quiet day as I was packing up to leave. A couple of people I don't know came in and were doing about the same thing with a .22

sadly i just shook my head and left.
