That's pretty sexy. Still didn't get rid of that dang grip safety!

Why doesn't it say near the muzzle the "bang zone"?

Looks a lot better than the original.

No defensive gun should have a grip safety or be made in Croatia.

I tend to agree.

I don't get all the hate on the grip safety. That and where it's made have never been any issue on any XD series pistol I have owned

The need to have your hand in the right place (other than on the trigger) in order for a gun to be fired, is a no no in PDM's book of defensive handgun design.

However, I have trained extensively with my XDM and XDS, and neither have ever been an issue. It is very difficult to reach the trigger and not engage the grip safety. I have tried. Actually, I tested every problem, issue, or concern that I could find before committing either to defensive use.

I have read accounts about wounded cops, ccw's, and even soldiers using firearms with grip safety that had failed because of hand injuries kept the safety from engaging and even cases of dirt keeping the safety from engaging.
The more safeties on a firearm, the less reliable.
People who love their XD's will argue to blue in the face but its OK. You love your gun and you take your chances with it as well.

It might work geeat with no issues ever. Mechanically it is one more potential failure point. I took a class several years back and an XDm 9 failed. The guy wrnt to his back up to remain in class. When he took it apart the grip safety pin had broken from something jamming up and not allowing the safety to disengage. I did not see it, just what he said.

I did not know him before the class I have never seen him after. Could have been a fluke. Could have been him jacking with something he should not have... euther way I still view it as one more thing to break annd stuff like that tends to be governed by Murphy's law and fail at the most inopportune time.

So for me it is not at all about the function of the grip safety. Functionally it is not that big a deal.

this tapatalk stuff is cool

Yep. I have a friend of a friend who was in a defensive shooting situation years ago. His gun had a grip safety and he was shot in the hand, so when he went to return fire....he got bang, bang, click because he could not hold on well enough to push in the grip safety. He lived to tell the tale luckily.

the grip safety on these is VERY light. Unnoticeable.

I did replace the all the split pins with true roll pins. Split pins will start to deform

I might be able to live with the XD's grip safety if it didn't also render it impossible to rack the slide.

I don't get all the hate the XD series guns get. The 1911 has had a grip safety since well 1911. And plenty of people carry and love them.

I dont like how you cant rack the slide without depressing the grip safety, I avoid all that stuff by just going glock.

Can someone describe to me how you can effectively run the slide without touching the safety?

I have bigger hands and even on my full size xdm I run into the problem of not being able to rack the slide because I'm not depressing the grip safety. It usually occurs when I'm taking it apart or trying to lock back the slide. I have never had an issue with it while actually shooting. That being said I carry a glock 19.

On my service and subcompact XDs, you have to have a firm grip on them to rack them. Only way I've got them to operate single handed is by a wall rack which sucks weak handed.

Yep, the XDs are only for the kids to shoot basically, and they really don't like them either. The boy and girl both prefer the 17.

Tactical black duct tape could be an improvement for the XD grip safety.

I prefer my goock 19L it has everything I need in a gun and nothing I dont.

Safety is between the ears.
