Why XD?
Why XD?
I can understand having a forum name using Glock because they are used by a lot of agency's. Why is the XD name used? There are many reasons that agency's don't use the XD. Right? I can see Glock and Sig or S&W but no way XD. Does anyone ever even discuss the XD?

Re: Why XD?
I don't understand the love for the XD.
You can not get parts for XD pistols. The factory will ask you to send the gun to them for repair. That alone cost one hundred dollars FedEx over night, round trip. They will not sell anyone critical parts.

Re: Why XD?
Not to mention the grip safety.
They made the gun so that the grip safety blocks the movement of the slide until its depressed, thus locking the striker.
You cannot even chamber a round unless you are holding the pistol correctly and depress the grip safety.
This makes the gun very difficult to use if your one handed or if you get disabled in a fight.

Re: Why XD?
I can get plenty of parts for my xd's. never had to deal with customer service because I've never had any issue with anything Springfield. (Knocks on wood) Every xd I own or have own has been just as reliable as any glock or other brand that I've heard of. Most agencies lean towards manufacturers that will offer the better deals after other criteria is met. Glock offers one of the best if not the best deal to govt agencies. I know several sheriffs depts in Texas and Arizona use the xd as service weapons

Re: Why XD?
The grip safety on a 1911 is useless also, but it is much better designed and I can live with it.

Re: Why XD?
People like them
I loved mine except for the trigger. I didn't like the feel of the trigger safety.
Why would anyone give a shit that we have an XD forum? It's not like we are in a physical building and it's using up space.

Re: Why XD?
The aftermarket is picking up for XD/XDM. If any factory part of mine broke I would rather upgrade the part than send it in for factory replacement.
I have two XDMs; the 4.5" and the 3.8" compact, both in 9mm. The only issue I have had out of either of them was wolf ammo sticking in the mags. Sold the wolf, stick to brass, no issues.
I've had a Glock (G27) and I liked it. They make good guns, but I did have more malfunctions out of it (the damn thing did NOT like WWB ammo...choked on it several times.
When I decided to ditch .40 and go to 9mm (for both capacity and cheaper ammo) I thought about going Glock. At the time, the XDM 4.5 came up for sale on here at a good price so I snagged it. Shortly after I bought the compact, both were used but in great shape. I carry one or the other pretty much every day an they have served me very well.
I've heard horror stories about issues, but no more than I have kabooms with Glocks. I don't get into fights over this is better than that because of this and this guy says so. Use what works for you. Practice and train with what you have.
If I ever manage to scrape up the cash, a .45 XDS will probably be my next pistol.

Re: Why XD?
External safeties like this just leave you exposed to more potential issues to deal with in a high stress situation. Fortunately for most, these are optional and we have the ability to choose a gun with or without them.
I personally wan't nothing but my trigger finger as a safety on my CCW. Just my preference...

I'm hoping he was referring to a site. Like xd talk.com or whatever.DDgunslinger wrote:Does it really matter what the name of the sub-form is? I mean really???
Re: Why XD?
It is the only forum I have seen that when listing brands only use a couple names instead of pretty much all brands. The other forums either list semi auto or a list of most all manufactures. Just find it odd.

KAC likes to be different from "other" gun forums.zeke4351 wrote:It is the only forum I have seen that when listing brands only use a couple names instead of pretty much all brands. The other forums either list semi auto or a list of most all manufactures. Just find it odd.
Probably doesn't hurt that one of the FFs is a big XDM fan

More of a general name the top names that came to mind instead of listing every brand made. No reason for exclusions other than no more room.zeke4351 wrote:It is the only forum I have seen that when listing brands only use a couple names instead of pretty much all brands.
