'49 Ford

Got a badass ride, post it up. Cars, trucks, bikes, trikes, whatever rolls or flies.

'49 Ford

Post by Mexican Kerry » Sun Oct 19, 2014 10:01 pm

My buddy has talked about this car since I met him in '93. His dad gave it to him when he was a kid and its been stored out on an acreage since before then. I've been trying to talk him into doing something with it for 20 years (damn I'm old!) and finally convinced him to go get it.

Here it is in all its glory:

Yeah it needs some work. He has a 460 he's planning on putting into it, but other than that he hasn't got any plans.

It needs a new floor and rockers, and some straightening and tweaking on a couple parts of the body. He's thinking about putting a new front end under it, but is undecided. I think he should go gasser style, like this:

Or keep it simple like this:

Any thoughts?

I'm digging 'simple'

I love gassers, but that car looks "right" in that simple pic.

I'm trying to talk him out of using the 460. Sure the motor's free but it will probably be expensive to build it. Should find something with more aftermarket support. And something easier to bolt a 5 spd to. Like a 5.0 haha.

He's worried that if he goes solid axle and whatever, that its not going to be driveable. Told him if he wants driveable sell the 49 and keep driving his Explorer.

Another vote for simple
There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.
