I believe that is one that has been modded by Salve7 from the esee forums...

Re: ESEE THREAD
Salve does great work.
I pm'd him about modding a Laser Strike, and he told me what he charged, told that he is taking on new projects right now etc... Told me how long it would take, and then he said i had to send him a free gift, along with the payment...
I was like, whaaaa....?
Seriously, he said it didn't have to be anything expensive, just something creative.
He said because it's hard for him to turn over all these ESEE's that he mods, back to the original owners, so he likes getting a free gift along with payment.
I was like, yeah..... Let me get back to you on that.... Lol
Nice guy though, just saying...
I've just never had someone expect a free gift on top of what they charge.
I was just thinking it was too much effort to get him to mod a knife for me.

Re: ESEE THREAD
I just thought, you know... If you don't want to take on any more projects right now, just say so.
The guy i'm going on that Sipsey trip with has had several knives modded by him, and i was gonna ask if he had to do the same thing... But really, who cares if he did. I won't do that shit.

Re: ESEE THREAD
So, I asked that guy if Salve ever asked him to do the same thing. About the additional gift... He said no. He couldn't believe it either. He's had like 5 knives done by him.Netto wrote:Salve does great work.

I guess he either doesn't like me for whatever reason, or maybe I caught him on a bad day.
I saw his newest creation... It was my buddy James' ESEE 5... It's called the prison shank, lol.
The knife itself looks great, the handle he went way overboard on.... Like, it won't even fit into a sheath.

Re: ESEE THREAD
It's probably the only Esee I don't want... it's impractical for any real bushcraft and if you need something that big, ya might as will just use a machete.DW-Fan wrote:Anyone have a Junglas? Thoughts?

Re: ESEE THREAD
Kinda what I thought as well. Hell, the 6 is too big to be practice for most things. I like the 5 though...you never know when you might need a crowbar with a razor sharp edge...lolDDgunslinger wrote:It's probably the only Esee I don't want... it's impractical for any real bushcraft and if you need something that big, ya might as will just use a machete.DW-Fan wrote:Anyone have a Junglas? Re: ESEE THREAD
I have a RAT 5 that I really like, but I need something larger like a quality medium size machete for clearing tree small limbs and brush.
I have a couple cheap machetes and they chip, won't hold an edge and the handle is a nightmare on my hand even with a glove.

Re: ESEE THREAD
I have been thinking about adding an ESEE 5 to my knife accumulation. I have a HEST, ESEE 3, ESEE 6, and an older RAT 7. To my way of thought the ESEE 5 is handier in size and a full 0.25 inch in thickness for stupid tough tasks. What say you of more knowledge and experience?

Re: ESEE THREAD
The ESEE 5 is built for a particular task, that task being the ideal survival knife from the eyes of a downed helicopter pilot. It also happens to be Jeff Randal's least favorite knife ESEE makes. If you don't foresee beating through the fuselage of a downed helicopter as a likely task you'll encounter, the 4 or 6 (depending on whether you prefer losing or gaining an inch) would be your best bet. You could also look into their hopefully soon to be released bushcraft line.

Re: ESEE THREAD
I carry and use the ESEE 5 more than the others that I have. It does make a fine pry bar I have used it as one. It is heavier than the others but I don't mind the weight I had a friend make me a leather sheath for it. Geno if you would like to try it out for a little while PM me and we will see if we can make it happen. Always try before you buy if you can.
