86 Slo-Vo sheath review, six months. (pic heavy)

Post by Livewire » Wed Jul 17, 2013 11:03 pm

After six months of using a kydex sheath that 86 Slo-Vo custom made for me I've decided to do a review. I wanted a better way to carry my izula other than the factory sheath. I didn't like carrying the izula in a vertical sheath at work because it was always tough to get the blade out and put away one handed. Between my clothes and overhang it wasn't convienant. I had a basic idea of what I wanted but no real pictures to show exactly what I wanted. After a few minutes of discussing he said he'd take care of it.

I wanted a horizontal sheath that I could wear at the 1 o'clock position for easy draw and easy to resheath.

Following pics are of the sheath from different angles, notice its made from one piece of kydex.

Picture of how the knife is easily removed from the sheath. It has great blade retention and has a positive snap when putting the blade away.

All I can say is six months in and I'm extremely happy with how well it works and how it's holding up. I wanted the sheath just for work but since its so comfortable I wear it every day. It's easily concealed even with a tucked in shirt. I just pull enough of the shirt out to cover most of it and no one notices. I like it enough he's made me another custom sheath for my esee 3 to my specs. I would suggest his work to anyone wanting custom kydex work.

Here's some pics of the sheath he made for my esee3. I wanted an emergency use sheath that was easy to cover with just a t-shirt.

Notice the space between the loops, made to center on the belt loop on pants.

Showing the draw from the sheath. Excellent blade retention on this sheath also.

I haven't used this sheath as much as the izula sheath but I do use it in places where a pistol isn't practical. I'm well pleased with this one also.

Seriously though, that style sheath would be perfect for my Laser Strike.

I wanted horizontal carry anyway...

The LS would be a little harder like that, with the weight and size if the LS is recommend staying with regular style loops instead of a clip.
