Howdy ya. I am looking to get my deck repaired. Anybody on here or know of somebody that is handy at that type of construction and wanting to earn some extra cash? I am located in Brooks.

What all needs to be done. I put one on @ my first house.

I know it needs at least one, maybe two more supports put in. Then a support beam replaced. Some of the deck boards need to be removed also.

Some of the railing needs to be looked at also.

The supports need to be off the ground. I was thinking those 4x4 concrete deck support blocks would be the easiest thing, but I would leave it to whomever’s best judgment that takes the job.

I am wondering if it is salvageable. I am hoping.

Do not use those support blocks. A deck needs to be anchored in the ground (either posts attached to the top of poured concrete piers or posts in the ground and concrete poured into the hole). If the deck can move with the freeze and thaw of the ground.....its gonna fall apart quickly.

So those blocks are a nogo? Ok. I have 4x4’s sitting on the ground I believe in some places.

Sounds like your whole deck may be a no go lol. 4x4's sitting on ground is bad. If the deck can move with the freeze and thaw it will fall apart quickly.

I hope not. I hope that at least the frame can be salvaged. It would cut the cost down.

I would bet the framing can be salvaged as long as it isn't rotten. But who ever you have do the work, make sure they are putting in piers or posts in ground with concrete. Gotta keep it from moving.

Secure the structure first and then replace deck boards and railings and you should be good.

Also keep in mind lumber prices right now are through the fucking roof.....so be prepared to butt pucker on the materials side of things.....

Oh I am. I was going to build a new coop and shed, but just the repairs on my current coop ate at the new coop funds I sat aside. The new shed money, well that can wait till prices come down, hopefully. I just don’t want the deck falling. It needs to be looked at.
