Used Hobart 84142 Industrial Meat Grinder $300

I literally just bought this to grind meat. Impulse buy off Craigslist because I wanted a meat grinder, I made a deal with the guy to buy it without realizing how big it was. It was huge, but I had told him I was going to buy it so I did. Driving home I realized that I will never grind up this much meat at a time and i'd probably have more fun pounding beers and using a manual cranker(tell me if this is not the case).

Unless someone can talk to me about the awesome benefits of electric vs manual meat grinder, I want to sell this.

You can come take a look at my house to ensure it works, my short google search tells me this retails new for around $800 - $1200 it is a Hobart 84142. Guy did tell me it was used in a Cafeteria in Michigan previously before him and he had used it to process deer. Sometime between all this, the engine was rebuilt. It does come with an extra set of blades.

Due to the size, you may need 2 people to carry this away (I can help on my end). However, keep in mind it was an old white man who told me he was able to carry it out of his house. He didn't have too much faith that I could do it on my own and I never tried.

You bought it, so you must have had the $300 to spend and you say you still plan to grind meat... I would keep it and make it work. I've used three different cheaper grinders, and one old antique manual one. Going forward, I wouldn't even bother grinding again unless I had a high quality commercial grinder.

My dad has one pretty close to that one.

It works amazing. It knocked burgoo prep time in half.

Haha, this is what all my wise friends are telling me! I just get hung up on economics, as in, I look at how many times i'll actually use it vs how much it costs. And I don't think i'll be using it enough to justify getting a table to mount this on and using it. You're right, I don't need the money but it's always nice to have money to buy other useless things I won't use ; )

Haha, you guys are driving me to the point where I do want to keep it now. I turned it on and man, this is going to be no work at all.

One of the pictures was taken looking down the smaller grinder side. Looks like a crack, but looks superficial. I'm going to go sharpen those blades now! I may just keep this machine. If you guys do need something shredded, let me know.

If they're too bad, spare parts are available. Ebay prices on complete 'choppers' (not sold as grinders) are through the roof. For $300 and $50 for new blades, I'd consider it a steal if it's what you want.

Man. I'll keep this. I turned it on today and saw that I could just drink beer and watch it churn out some ground meat. Probably funner than getting drunk and trying to crank it out myself.

What do I use to shove meat down?

Measure the diameter, find a wooden rod ever so slightly smaller?
