Executive order list

Many of those I would have no issues with, some even seem to be along the lines of common sense.

Now his proposals to congress on the other hand....

I told my daughter, who is 30 and has 3 kids, if we are alive in ten years we will look back on today as the beginning of a new chapter of American history.

99% fluff.

What have I been saying all along? He expects others to do his dirty work.
Fits his usual pattern of "leading from behind"
There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.

The NRA needs to tread carefully now.

They've been handled the ball, and there's nobody between them and the end zone. Don't stumble, don't fumble.

5. Propose rulemaking to give law enforcement the ability to run a full background check on an individual before returning a seized gun.

is that not the rule already? Even if they recover your stolen weapon I think they are required to do a NICS check (not sure if they are considering that a 'full background check' but I think they are).

That's legislative agenda. Meaning congress purvey. He can propose what he wants congress has to make it happen. That's where we come in, and our voice.
I missed the differentiation between EO and proposal- thanks for the clarification. That sounds better.

PLEASE... no one stand down yet. Remember this POTUS has vowed to "put the full weight of the office" behind a new AWB and he is 'ready to spend as much political capital" as necessary.

Yeah. Even though this doesn't seem as bad as we thought, it's not over yet. Contact your state officials now

He signed them right after the speech.

President Barack Obama has deliberately missed the target with his proposed gun control scheme, announced today at the White House, because it is now clear he wants to blame law-abiding gun owners for the actions of criminals and madmen, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said.CCRKBA

“Suddenly Mr. Obama wants to get more criminal and mental health records into the NICS background check data base and get a permanent director for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms,” observed CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “Where has he been for the last four years?”

Gottlieb noted that these proposals have been suggested in the past and supported by the firearms community, but they have repeatedly fallen on deaf ears. But now, as he exploits the Sandy Hook school tragedy, these items are high on his anti-gun agenda.

As an SAF member, I got that same e-mail.

I have the utmost respect Gottlieb, but I don't get what he's saying. Are we calling this a "win," but we still don't like it?

Numbers 4, 14, and 15 seem like the ones to worry about and possibly number 8 too.
4. Asking the AG to review the categories of people who shouldn't be allowed guns seems very.... Suspicious. What categories will they add??? PTSD sufferers?
8. Could mean manditory locking of guns in the home in safes or with provided locks.

Doctors can still ask. You just can't be forced to answer, and information about your firearms ownership can't be "databased."
