I find it odd he carried a gun in truck/car and left it in there to get out and confront a guy who was visibly attacking/shooting at a cop. It needs to be on you, not sort of with you.

Agreed that struck me as very odd.

Very odd

The cop is having his head slammed into the pavement and the guy gets out of his car to ask if he needs assistance?!? Hello Mr. Obvious. Geesh.

I think that the 'request and response' was coached by officers so the citizen is in the clear...

As they should have. Shouldn't even be a question of justified or not. If the officer was able to get to his own gun the guy would be dead none the less.

It was at a bad wreck. It's not uncommon for people to pull up to a wreck and get out to see if they can help. I don't think it's odd at all for him to get out not knowing what the hell is going on before realizing that it's not what it initially looked like.

I didn't think of it like that. The story made it sound like the first thing the civilian saw was the officer having his head smashed into the pavement. At least, that's how I read it. I wasn't ever too good on that book learnin' though. ;-)

Bear in mind that those who write with a spin in mind, never make clear what the point is. This has been the problem with MSM for almost 50 years, now.

We are all different for sure but I would figure that a gun forum and people that actually carry guns would have them on their person and not just laying in their car. I guess that's how quite a few get stolen.

I have car guns in all the gloveboxes and carry guns. Sitting in tight leather seats for extended times with a tucked gun is often not comfortable so it is taken out and put in the middle console.
