Assuming those are real of course.
There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.

My understanding of the situation was the response mechanism is called an "active shooter" regardless of what is actually happening because the response to the call is the same. The level of alert that one must be on is going to be the same whether it's a knife a car or a gun. I believe that explains WHY they called it an "active shooter" but then the media just ran with whatever. Not excusing the media for their laziness but I'm pretty sure that's just what happened.

You may be correct, but the media and democrat talking heads wasted no time calling for more gun control before a single fact was known.
On a brighter note, I've seen several stories about military members who were in classes taking immediate action and pairing up and doorways to ambush anyone who tried to come in and do any harm.
