SCOTUS SETS NEW PRECEDENT ON GUN RIGHTS

Not good Comrades, don't bury a hook in your teenager when casting in the boat, cuz you may loose your right to own a firearm.

In a 6-2 decision in the case of Voisine v. United States, the court ruled that crimes of recklessness rise to the same level as “misdemeanor crimes of domestic violence” which preclude individuals convicted of such a crime from firearm ownership by federal law.

I don't think any "misdemeanor" should be grounds for losing your rights.

Especialy not an accident where some overzealous prosecuter tries you for negligence.
Think about it, no mens rea, like if one of your boys shoots your other boy with a slingshot while you were at work, or your dog bites your wife or kid, and someone on the state payroll decides to charge you as negligent and suceeds. Your toast!

Curious how this plays out for LEO's. Especially NYC.

I don't think *any* crime should result in permanent loss of rights. Once you've been punished, all rights should be restored.

I remember a couple western movies where the cowboys were released from some hellhole in the middle of nowhere after being jailed, and the guards threw them their holsters and pistols. Somewhere along the line legislators decided once a felon always a felon, and in many states misdemeanors disqualify you from getting a carry permit.

Agreed however I also believe certain crimes deserve much harsher punishment....all the way up to death....then we dont have to worry about restoring someones rights.
