How many guns can you build a year?
Re: How many guns can you build a year?
As long as they are personal use you can build as many as your heart desires.
If your building to sell, that is a different story.

That my dear is what we old gunsmiths call Bullshit
You can build as many as your little hearts desires.
Just don't do it as a trade.
Or you can , only pay the corrective licenses and taxes.

Re: How many guns can you build a year?
I knew it was but I said sure i can't afford to build more than 3 a year and said fill out the paperwork. It's Sad I have bought from them since I was 12 and dad bought my first 20gauge slug there it's kind of left a bad taste in my mouth.
Funny thing is they changed there story half way through the transaction it started at 2.
Thanks guys I appreciate clearing the water on that.

I think you are only allowed to buy so many (handguns/long guns) at a time aren't you?
I know the AR receivers aren't classified as either but I thought you were limited to like 6 a month?

You can buy as many as you want long /handgun
If you buy two or more handguns at one time or within five business days, a multiple handgun form is filed out and turned in to the National tracing center and the Chief Law Enforcement official.
This is a BATF form and is field out and filed by the FFL.
On border states with Mexico , a multiple long gun form is done.

Nah I just staple a piece of paper to the 4473 and use a rule and ink pen to draw more lines.Dave1965 wrote:Seriously?Toddstang wrote:I think you are only allowed to buy so many (handguns/long guns) at a time aren't you?

Get their attention? Maybe
There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.

Lower Receivers are OTHER category and no requirement to notify ATF of purchases in these parts. I have contemplated and tried to negotiate buying as many as 50 at once.
Only Pistols require that separate form (I have been a victim of it many times)...even though you can build a pistol out of the Lower

Seems to have changed since the large man passed away, he always talked to the gunsmith from Louisville when he visited from the big city.Livewire wrote:Do you remember who you talked to?ken6881 wrote:Yep Whittakersyagreg wrote:whittakers?!?

Re: How many guns can you build a year?
The large man's failing health affected the entire store when he was there and for the last months before he passed.
Before his health started failing I knew that he would have the best prices on guns but not ammo.
He began raising prices and gradually and the whole attitude of the employees went to hell because he would make it a special point to berate them in front of customers. It was almost like they were auditioning for a reality TV show.
Uncle Lee's was beating all his prices on Glocks and most ammo but tomorrow they're closing the doors.
The new manager at Whittikers isn't related to the whittakers and seems to be trying to improve customer service while keeping family squabbles distanced from the business. That's another story in itself.

Yeah, large man and me were not the best of buddies but he would talk shop when me and my buddy Ed would go to look at guns.
Heck half of my nice knives came from Whittikers
