Been looking at the axe head for about a year. Time to make a handle for it. I’m starting with a 1/2 pound craftsman head, an idea of a handle shape and a nice scrap of hickory.
This is a good place to stop for the night. Stay tuned for the next installment.

Do you use a band saw to rough shape your blanks?

What is the purpose of something like that?

Yea, hit the easy button on shaping. Still lots of hand work to do.
What is it good for? Not much. Some say these are salesman samples, some say a child’s sized item.

Ok life’s getting in the way of my shop time. Here is the progress after rough shape and a few minutes of fitting. Should be fairly easy. It might be only a 1/2 pound head but it feels good.
