I've read a bit about these being a good alternative to the ACOG. If I had a good shooting range to use I'd just practice to 300 with my irons. But a descent optic on one's battle rifle is something I keep thinking "Yeah I might not actually need it, but..."
So who has experience with these?

I have no experience with them but lots of experience with acog from army and I own one now. Seems to me it isn't the acog's 4x magnification that is so nice. Its the bdc reticle that also allows ranging distance based on a man's shoulders. And the tritium reticle never needing batteries or having to worry about turning it on. AND the back up sights on top of the acog. Plus the reputation as being rugged all add up to make it one heck of a scope.
