I have no idea what scope came with my gun

Post by ProCroation » Sun Nov 30, 2014 10:20 pm

So I purchased a heavy barrel H&R 12 gauge slug gun a week or so ago. It came with a scope already mounted and a sling. I wasn't buying it for the scope...just the opportunity to have a cheap, dependable and accurate slug gun. The problem is, nowhere in any of the documentation is a brand name for the scope. I can't find anything about it online either. Nowhere on this scope does there seem to be any kind of name, number or icon to go by. How can I figure out what kind of scope this is, without that info?

The lack of it pointing to any particular brand, especially one I might have heard of and can trust, turns me off. I think I'll just put something on it that I know I can trust like a Vortex, Bushnell Banner or Redfield Revolution...hell maybe even a Nikon Prostaff would be better than no name. This no name scope can ride the top of my .22 air rifle instead, which is probably a step up from the beeman scope that it came with.
A cop stopped me on the street and said "we're looking for a mugger who fits your description" , so I said "okay I'll do it".

Under the cap I found this...an "S" inside a diamond shape. I assumed Simmons. Any idea if I'm right?

Doesn't look like the adjustment turrets shown here: http://stevespages.com/pdf/simmons_atta ... ctions.pdf

I would assume it's junk. If you have the money, take advantage of the deals tomorrow and order a new known quality optic.

I've seen adjustment knobs like that on many of the cheapo Chinese made scopes that are commonly relabeled one brand or another.

Gotcha. Thanks guys. I'll probably toss it on an air rifle or sell it.

Yeah it's identical to that one with only two slight differences. The 3-9x40 should say 3-9x32 and instead of being printed near the objective lens, mine is printed nearest the eye piece.

The rings and the adjustment caps and the body look identical though.

I was looking through scopes at Cabela's. To me the untrained the nikon pro-staff scopes looked as clear and bright as the much more expensive scopes. Nice eye relief also.
