Question about potential new sights for Glock 19
Hoping to get a Glock 19 soon and wondering about the sights I should put on it.
I have used Trijicon HD™ Night Sights before and like them but recently learned about the brite•site™ tfo - TRUGLO®
and not sure which to pick.
I am 32 and wear glasses so eye sight isn't amazing, the Truglo seem nice but read a lot about the FO tube cracking or coming out completely. Also read issues with snagging on holster/etc, asking for advice from more experienced owners since I am still a nooblet far as firearms are concerned.
Thank you.

Re: Question about potential new sights for Glock 19
I've had 5 pairs of them and never had an issue.Remember green is the brightest of all colors. You have to make sure they are pressed on and not put on with a punch because that is what can crack or loosen the tube and it voids the warranty.

No idea how I would be able to tell. Person at 111 Guns kinda introduced me to them while I was there, I like the concept of the brighter glow but the cons seem pretty big.Ar-Rob wrote:I've had 5 pairs of them and never had an issue.Remember green is the brightest of all colors. You have to make sure they are pressed on and not put on with a punch because that is what can crack or loosen the tube and it voids the warranty.

ask the gunsmith how he intends on installing them.I know Armorhyde and Guncrank fit them and loctite them. The place on Bardstown rd uses a punch.Glocks can use a site pusher and there was a community one floating around on here.I've dropped my stuff and never had any issues.

Re: Question about potential new sights for Glock 19
I have had the TruGlos and Trijicon HD's on my Glocks. While both do their job well, the TG's are rounded and it is almost impossible to rack the slide on your pant pocket with one hand. Nothing but Trijicon HD for me.

I put tfo,s on my g17, I get faster sight picture, day and night. Thumbs up, no problems so far, pressed on myself.

Re: Question about potential new sights for Glock 19
Put a tfo on the front and the ICE claw from Rob Pincus on the back.
The front sight doesn't require a press or a punch correct? Anyways that's what I am going to install on my 17.

I see this comment a lot about the TFOs. I need to look at mine because I'm wondering if you could take a file to the front edge and make a slight undercut to act a a hook for this.dbh wrote:I have had the TruGlos and Trijicon HD's on my Glocks. I had the TFO's my first Pistol 2. Quickly changed them after that.ssracer wrote:I see this comment a lot about the TFOs. Re: Question about potential new sights for Glock 19
front on a Glock are held on by a screw. I had a site pusher from SNL but I think I gave it back or it's still in my safe. I loctite them in when I installed them and have had no issues in the 5 sets I've done it for. These were night sights though and not tfo sights as I don't care for them.justang1997 wrote:Put a tfo on the front and the ICE claw from Rob Pincus on the back.

IMO, the Trijicon HD's are extremely hard to beat. I have pistols with both, but my goto combat handguns all have Trijicon night sights. The TFO's are nice for range use.

Re: Question about potential new sights for Glock 19
I put the Trijicons on my Shield a few weeks ago and at first was a bit hesitant to spend the extra money over the TFOs. After handling and shooting the Shield in various lighting situations and comparing them with a co-worker's TFOs, I'll be buying more of the Trijicons.Wyldman wrote:IMO, the Trijicon HD's are extremely hard to beat. Had them at the Range with Gunsmokin and adayton and sight acquisition was extremely good on the range.

Re: Question about potential new sights for Glock 19
Didn't want to make new thread so just bumping this one with new question,
Decided to buy the TruGlo TFO and asked about the install process.
Was told they would put the sights in a freezer for 2-3 hours then use a lamp to bring the slide little bit above room temp then install them.
The did say they used a push tool not a punch.
Wondering if this method is common or if the freezing or heating will damage the slide or sights.
The sights are what I am more worried about due to the fiber optic rods.
Any insight would be welcome, still very much a nooblet.

That process works with press fits bearing etc.intrloper wrote:Didn't want to make new thread so just bumping this one with new question,

On first read , for Glock sights , IMO sounds like extra work.
I use a sight pusher of commerical make and my own.
The sights are fitted
And secured with thread locking compound.

Normal nointrloper wrote:So that sounds pretty normal then? Shouldn't damage anything?
Damage the sights ??? Unknown
That shop does it thier way, it is not my way.
I would not apply exterme cold or heat to the slide or sights.
