ACK!!! I lost a part

Post by KYgundude » Sun Mar 18, 2012 8:23 pm

When I took my Taurus 66 revolver apart to clean it I lost the little plug and spring that goes inside the end of the set screw that holds the cylinder assembly in the gun. I am not very good at finding what I need in the exploded view in the manual but I think it would be the Yoke Retaining Pin and Yoke Retaining Pin Spring. The little thing went flying and it's so damn small I can't find it.

My questions
1) Are the names above that I think is the proper parts correct?
2) Is this an item I can get locally?
3) Why and I such a clumsy jackass?

Sure hope I can get these parts before 4/1 or I'm going to be miserable.

1) yes
2) not likely, I have spring and pin stock
3) here you go
Those are not parts you need to remove to clean a wheel gun.
Lesson learned.

I should have said "try guncrank." oops
I had to take the sideplate off my 66 once when the ejector rod backed out a little and cylinder release latch would not push it far enough to open. Was not too difficult, but I would not do it unless necessary.

Thanks Cranky.
I guess I misunderstood. You do or do not have the parts I need?
I will call Taurus in the morning if needed. I'm sure I can order them now that I've confirmed I have the right names.

Ahh gotcha. I was thinking he was saying they were or were not in stock. Gonna see what they cost first and if I can just talk em out of Taurus for free.

Parts changers have "parts"
Gunsmiths have material and "parts"

Yoke screw assembly (screw, pin, and spring) on the way. No charge, courtesy of Taurus. I'm impressed with the service.

See I said I got free stuff from the bull.
Except when I called there was some much construction noise at Taurus I had to call back.
