Accurate Armory 1911 Pics
Went down to Lex today and did some photo work. These things are the slickest 1911's I've handled.

Re: Accurate Armory 1911 Pics
Keith told me pricing before but I can't remember it. I THINK they start around $1200 for bare bones but I could be wrong on that. And so far I believe they have only made 10 which are all gone.

Expensive. I saw them at the gun show. He mentioned pricing similar to double star guns. Not sure when ds and aa think they achieved elite 1911 costs but I wouldnt pay it for the ds for sure.

While I haven't gotten to shoot these, they feel amazing. Lockup is solid, there is no slide play and the slide moves smooth as glass. Very crisp trigger too. I've never handled a DS so I can't speak to comparison.

Re: Accurate Armory 1911 Pics
they look like 1400-1600 range, the fit and finish top shelf. You can see the fit alone screams quality, look at the beavertail fit, the checkering, the lines cut in the rear to prevent reflection. Elite 1911 cost........sure looks nicer then a wilson or other semi custom pistols to me. I wish they would have broke the mold a bit and done a HiPower custom built in house with a rail system.

Looks really nice. Just not too sure about the tactical recon roll mark, maybe size/font just not right.
Oh, how so high they fly........ only further to fall.

Re: Accurate Armory 1911 Pics
Maybe this is the fall-back idea if the ban comes through. I can't see that his one man shop is able to support production of some AR's much less some 1911's which, in my experience of putting some together, can be difficult at times .

Re: Accurate Armory 1911 Pics
Once you get one you'll wonder what took you so long!!! For years I wondered about all the hype regarding 1911 pistols. I bought a used Taurus PT1911 and Oh My Gosh!!!! Great ergonomics and easy to sight.dbh wrote:I've managed to stay away from 1911's. might have to get one of those !!
I'm definitely a fan of the 1911 pistol.
I've had a Doublestar on my "want" list but the price drives me away. If this Accurate Armory is in that same range??? Even though both are Ky. made I would lean more towards a Les Baer for that price point.

God made man.
Samuel Colt made all men equal.
John M. Browning and the 1911 made some men more equal than others.

Those are awesome. Come out just in time for a gun ban.
You seem to have me confused...
You don't need a black rifle to be cool, but it sure helps.

Re: Accurate Armory 1911 Pics
I'm scared to buy any other 1911's made by any other company because I feel I may like them too much and end up buying more! They are definitely addictive.
And I would pay $1200 for either of those pistols. I'm willing to bet they are a little more though as configured.

Re: Accurate Armory 1911 Pics
They are making tool steel guns...not cast/mim economy models. Made in USA too. IMO $1200 is probably justified in the 1911 market. They will get compared with Les Baer by a lot of people...because they are well established, and look REALLY...REALLY slick..but $400 (assuming $1200 vs $1600...roughly...which might not really be accurate based on the models pictured) is a big jump to directly compare if you ask me.Dave1965 wrote:Expensive. Re: Accurate Armory 1911 Pics
Not sure you guys are making a fair comparison in price of a $1200-$1400. Last I checked Wilson and Bear were a good chunk more. Compare to say a Kimber and you will see a semi custom vs a production gun

Amen to nemo and snl. Somebody sell a slab sided 1911 and leave the inch tall letters off of it. I don't mind a discreet manufacturers mark, but I shouldn't be able to read it from across the range.

You duracoated parts of a 1911 a questionable(read pink) shade of red. Your argument is invalid.Coachf wrote:I'll be the one who disagrees I guess, the roll mark is big and looks amateur. The rest of it looks flashly to be flashly. Looks like any other 1911. Not really impressed. Racer the pix are very nice though,

Re: Accurate Armory 1911 Pics
My problem is with the words themselves. "Tactical Recon"? Really? Why not "Elite Warrior" or "Kung Fu Ninja"?nemo wrote:...Just not too sure about the tactical recon roll mark, maybe size/font just not right.
Snarkiness aside, it does look like a very nice pistol. Knowing Keith's work, I'm sure the machining is absolutely first-rate.

They do the milling for the slide and frame in house, just like their AR uppers and lowers. Don't know who supplies the blanks/forgings

Nice! I wonder if they use the same parts as DS. I may be wrong but I think they use Wilson parts.ssracer wrote:They do the milling for the slide and frame in house, just like their AR uppers and lowers. Don't know who supplies the blanks/forgings
