new beretta m9 question
so I just purchased a new Beretta M9 (buds gun shop).... got home with it, field stripped it and noticed something disturbing.. not only was there wear marks on the frame were it locks into the slide but there were metal chips down in there... like what you would see after machine work was done ... I know places test fire their pistols before shipping them out and I've never purchased a new pistol that didn't have some dirt in it but this is a first for me. There are no scuffs or scratches on the outside of it and the slides and barrel do not appear to have any wear marks on them... I cleaned it out real good and inspected it. I couldn't find anything that would cause me to not shoot the gun but seriously... anyone else encounter this before? Is this typical with Beretta?

Re: new beretta m9 question
US or Italian made?
The grip screws are usually a dead give-a-way, hex = US made, Slotted = Italian.

There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.

I just checked my US made m9 that I have had a couple years. I got it brand new and shot maybe a magazine thru it and have not cleaned it of course. No wear marks and no metal shavings.

Re: new beretta m9 question
thats good to hear Dave! lol I hate having to send it back in but I don't think a new pistol should looks like that.. Beretta confirmed that it IS new and said they just shipped it out a little over a week ago. maybe this one just slipped through quality control.

Not a deal if you have to pay shipping, but if so you can get your LGS to mail it for you at a cheaper rate.CCRBUM wrote:ok. sounds like sending it back is the right idea. Lets see if they can actually do a 12 day turn around! lol

Every manufacturer puts a dud out from time to time. As long as they're willing to step up to the plate to take care of it without hassle = I will buy from them again.
