FN (Browning) Hi-Power info

Hey Guys and Gals ....
I have been thinking for a while now about picking up one of the famed FN (Browning) Hi-Power 9mm's
Haven't seen a whole lot of them around, but once in a while I see one at a gun show and their owners are usually asking a pretty hefty price ... I know I can get a new one for under a grand... but I don't know if I want a new one ...
Just thought I would throw it out there and see if anyone has a line on one ... and what they are going for used... I have access to Blue book of gun values, but I don't hold a lot of stock in the prices they publish sometimes .... Just thought the collective 'firarms think tank' of KAC might have some nice insights ...
Thanx in advance...
Allan

AIM has been selling used Hi-Powers at pretty reasonable prices of late. MK III's seem easiest to find. Original Belgian made Brownings are commanding insane prices, but they are uber-nice pistols. I have one with factory original target sights & the original, red backed walnut grips that I got from my first wife as an anniversary present over 30 years ago, it is one of the last of the original Belgians, & has pretty large collector value. If you want a shooter, I'd suggest looking into one of the MK IIIs that are currently in market.

The HP has a feel to it that cannot be described in words, it just feels so right in your hand like no other gun.

I prefer the T model over the Mk III, but that is just my opinion. YMMV

I love Hi Powers

I know a very high-speed guy who shares this opinion. Given the choice of any handgun in the world, he'll go for a Hi-Power every time.

I feel this way about the CZ-75; no gun feels better in my hand. Strangely, I've never owned one. I've come very close more than once, but I've yet to find one with a grit- free trigger. When I do, it'll be mine.

The CZ 75 series triggers usually require a break in period to smooth out

The trigger on the P0-7 Duty I had of yours was fantastic great...

I screwed around to long and missed the other. What about these, should I just hold out for a Belgium made one or are these just as good?

Well, I bit the bullet. I have one of these coming. Can't wait to get this thing and shoot it!

Good. You won't be disappointed. Getting proper 13 rd magazines can be expensive, but don't be suckered into buying higher capacity &/or ProMag magazines. They suck. I have never seen one that will actually run. Stick to Browning OEM or Mec-Gar magazines (yes, they are expensive, but they are worth every penny!) and you will have a reliable, accurate pistol for you and your bairn's lifetimes.

One thing to note, depending on the particular safety setup, the magazine may not positively drop out when released. I bought all Mecgar mags with the little spring thingy and am very happy with them in all 3 of mine.

Cool, I'll check that out when I get it and go from there. It only comes with 1 mag so I'm sure I'll be buying more.

Did you go with the extra 10.00 for handpick best of 5?

No, I plan to have it refinished. I figured I waited long enough that the really nice ones were gone already anyway.
