The São Paulo State Military Police (PMSP), a gendarmerie tasked with the state’s non-investigative police work, have recalled all of the 98,000 (no, not a typo) .40 S&W Taurus 24/7 DS pistols issued to their personnel after discovering that some of them could be discharged without the trigger being pulled. In the video [at the link], from SBT.com.br, demonstrates how easily the faulty pistols can be discharged …

As we say in the computer field
That's not a bug, it's an undocumented feature.

BTW: The link in the OP is bad
This works

BTW:BTW: IMHO Before anyone gets too excited (aka Taurus bashing) over this, Taurus is not the first with a firearm safety recall nor will be the last.
There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.

When it is put on safety, I don't believe it fired and think the sound was dubbed. It didn't look like the slide moved then but you could see it in the beginning. If the video wasn't recorded with a shoe, we might be able to tell more precisely.

On my 24/7 (long gone now) the safety locked the slide.
Someone in the comments made that point as well.

The one they're showing in the photo at the link is a G2 (Gen 2) Whether or not this is limited to just the Gen 2 or includes the Gen 1 as well I don't know. The photo could be just a stock photo without any real relationship to the problem models. I had two Gen 1s and loved them.
