Yes, the M38 was made because of complaints about the 91/30's length. It was made without provision for a bayonet. The M44 is basically identical except for the folding bayonet. The M38 is about 1 1/2 pounds lighter them the M44.

The M96 long rifles were made in Oberndorf, Germany in 1899 and 1900 only. I have one of each year. I forget which, but one is still in cosmo and has not been fired in the 23 years I have had it. From top to bottom : Czech/ Israeli Mauser in .308 Win. with scout scope mount, Swiss K31, Yugo 24/47, Yugo M48, and Hungarian straight-pull carbine 8x56R. Since pic was taken I have added another K31 and another M48.

If you reload ammo and give or sell it to another person you need a FFL for manufacturing ammo. You also need to have liability insurance in case something goes wrong. However, if you reload a person's brass and return it to them, you are ok. That is my understanding. I could be wrong. I don't shoot...

I've been reloading 38 SPL and 357 Mag since 1985, 6.5x55 Swede since 1990 or so. I also load 9x18, .308, 7.5x55 Swiss, 7.62x54R, 30-40 Krag, 8x56R, getting ready to load 45 ACP.

My bologna sandwich....Bread, mayo,cheese, bologna,peanut butter,Fritos,bread. The peanut butter keeps the Fritos from falling out when you take a bite. Wirks for BBQ chips too.

I would have no problem deer hunting with my SKS using soft-point ammo, either 124 gr. or 154 gr.
