Re: Colt Lightweight Sporter Carbine

I finally got out to shoot a week or so ago and I broke it. First time out with it and I put about 40 rds downrange at 100 yds. Repro 2 position buffer tube let me down. Stock collapsed when I fired, muzzle went up and my shot went over the berm (right over the police range beyond me). Got a good sm...

Re: Chassis Table

I agree. But everyone's got different tastes. Would be a cool shop truck if he gets it and does some work to it. It needs a lot but he figures the price is right and he likes a project.

Re: Chassis Table

I picked up a new frame last year and am planning on a swap eventually. The current frame has some rot and shady mods done to it. I cut the front off and started a new subframe for a beam axle, just need the axle and springs now. My brother is maybe buying a 56 pickup so I'm hoping to get the axle o...

Re: Craft center project build

That looks awesome! You've got waaaay more patience than me, if a project takes more than a half day I'm in over my head. Plus I'm more of a build it with 2x4's kind of guy. I spent 12 years doing cabinetry and have zero interest in that stuff anymore but I can sure appreciate someone who does it.

Would you deliver??
Yup, I would. Only problem would be if I brought it down and you said "This car is a piece of shit, deal's off." But I guess it would be a road trip which isn't a bad thing.

Happy birthday! Hope you got to take it easy for once and enjoy the day. edit - Well.... not exactly my idea of a great birthday, but I'm glad it worked out. Let us know if we need to go on a Great Northern KAC hunting trip. I did enjoy it regardless. Wife took me out for a steak and a few drinks t...

Re: Happy birthday MK!

The thermometer in my back yard is reading -1 C right now. Sun is shining and two police cars just left my house because my neighbor came out and started screaming profanity at my mother, my sister, my wife and my 4 yr old daughter when they were outside this morning. Some pretty colorful language f...

New shock bar welded between frame rails, original shocks mount directly to trunk floor sheetmetal and is a weak point.

Re: Chassis Table

Made some slip-on table extensions to support the front end since the table is only 10 ft long. Scrap left over from my first (failed) Model A frame.

Chassis Table

Built this table the other day cause I'm tired of kneeling on the floor when I make stuff. I've got a Model A frame to build and a 55 Chevy frame to modify and I want to try making them as square as possible. Built out of 2x4 3/16" tubing, with homemade screw jacks for raising the casters off the fl...

http://i.imgur.com/BVwmMAt.jpg?1 Looking back on it there's a lot of stuff I didn't know until y'all pointed out differences and I then researched. If I had listened and done the research BEFORE, I may have gone with the 6920. Hopefully it is a decent shooter, haven't had time to get out with it an...

Re: Colt Lightweight Sporter Carbine

In case anyone's interested in an update: turns out (as suggested by gk) its got the sear block but the pins seem to be standard size so that's ok. Other than the front pivot which is still the oversized Colt version. http://i.imgur.com/SS5gblM.jpg?1 http://i.imgur.com/xgXFUj9.jpg?1 Just need to cut...

Looking for an early style Colt stock

Anybody here have one sitting around? I NEED on for my SP1 carbine. Old aluminum one, newer plastic, I'm not fussy at this point. Also looking for a 2 position receiver extension in case someone has one laying around. Any help appreciated. Should look like this: http://moonborn.com/media/upls/2016/0...

Re: Colt Lightweight Sporter Carbine

The owner of the Lightweight dropped the tax from the price so I saved 100 bucks. Went for it, hope it turns out to be a good buy. Probably won't get it til next week.

Re: Colt Lightweight Sporter Carbine

The Spikes and BCM aren't really on my radar, both I'm looking at are used. Prices are relative I guess, in Canada we pay a premium because of importing/dollar exchange/availability. I like the nostalgia thing with a fixed carry handle, but DD makes a good point. The 6920 would be more versatile wit...

Here's another option, a 6920. The Sporter is $995, the 6920 is $1175 (CAD).

Not sure if I should just find a lower and put my 10.5" Colt back together......

Colt Lightweight Sporter Carbine

I found this Colt for sale, the price is right but I'm looking for some input. Any opinions on quality? I like fixed carry handle uppers so this one kinda got my attention. I know the stock isn't original but waiting on details about the rest.

Re: Cheap 870 gets a ghetto camo job

Kinda done. Could do more, maybe some day. Cut to 20" and installed brass bead. Still need to refinish fore end. Never going to be a safe queen, when the previous owner altered it for 3" he did a hack job. It works but not pretty.
