Re: Can you school me on the sbr?

Funny how a pistol AR is less work than an sbr even though its really the same thing. Funny (not haha funny) to me anyway, pistols are a pain to own in Canada. Is a serialed lower tracked after initial purchase? I mean if it isn't part of an sbr. You can sell it and then its in the wind? Or is there...

Re: Can you school me on the sbr?

So there is no regulating the sale of barrels that fall under the minimum length for non-sbrs? Its basically a matter of them assuming you'll follow the rules or get caught with a non-documented/approved sbr? Is there any special procedure for buying a lower, or just go into a shop and say I want th...

Can you school me on the sbr?

In Canada an AR is classed as a restricted firearm (legal range only). You can own one, but you can't take it out to your buddy's field to shoot cans. Doesn't matter what barrel length, the AR-15 is restricted. I can swap various barrels or complete uppers all day long and it doesn't change the clas...

If they have one of these up though, buy it. Don't ask questions, just buy it. Then look them up and thank me. Not likely, but one can dream.....

Re: Surplus 1911s going on sale!!

http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/pistol-cmp-1-660x603.jpg This pic was in the first link for the CMP. I seriously doubt any of the pistols will be in this condition (maybe the odd auction grade piece) so I wouldn't get too upset about missing out on this program. They a...

I like that you got the sharp edges knocked off the slide. Of all the possible custom things people do to a 1911, this is probably the most useful yet most overlooked.

My Springfield had it done at the factory:

Re: Most you have paid for a meal?

For what its worth I'll throw my experience in. Take it or leave it. We were in Vegas this January and my business partner's wife booked a couple of dinners. The first was at a place called Carnevino at the Palazzo casino, they raved about it since they went there a year ago. The bill was around 200...

Re: New Hauler!

I am not sure how I didn't notice this thread sooner. I am currently working on a 79 Bronco. Picked it up a few years back. Has a 460 that been well built by a friend that was gonna use the truck for dirt drags. He gutted the wiring on the truck so one of these days i'll order a new harness and get...

Re: New Hauler!

I'm currently looking for a similar vintage 1 ton basket case to pull front beams off. Heavier built, the theory is stronger. Still sitting in a hotel away from home, no news on this project. Heading home on Thursday hopefully, but probably won't make much progress. The sand has almost run out on my...

Re: New Hauler!

Awesome build MK!!! I've accomplished exactly nothing so far. Been working away from home as usual, last Friday I got home at 5:30 am, hit the road at 10:00 am and was gone all day at another project. Spent Sat driving kids around to their activities while MKwife did her St Paddy's Day gigs. Fell a...

Re: New Hauler!

Well not much progress to report. Ordered a new set of wider wheels, and trying to decide what fuel cell and seats to go with. I need them before I get too carried away on the cage. I finished gutting the cab, pulling the dash was a pain in the ass. After the cage goes back in I want to notch the fa...

Re: New Hauler!

I've been thinking about my cage. I'm thinking cab cage fully welded in, and bed section that bolts to mounts both at the frame and to the back of the cab (to tie the two together). Then engine bay cage bolts to cab cage in similar fashion. Bed and engine cage would be removable.

Re: New Hauler!

Got my new tires today, a little wide for the rims but I'll source out some new ones. In the meantime I can roll it around and do my fender/suspension work. https://i.imgur.com/Uk5VABq.jpg https://i.imgur.com/sYOHx8b.jpg Then I cut my frame. I had to pinch/spread the rails 1.5" due to the taper and ...

Started putting the box back together today, cleaning up the front panel took most of my day. Hoping to finish it tomorrow, then move onto cutting the frame. Was struggling with the welder today, lots of shitty tacks. https://i.imgur.com/nUOOQeI.jpg https://i.imgur.com/tvITQcl.jpg https://i.imgur.co...

Re: New Hauler!

Well I have a buddy with a 49 Ford that he's had since he was a kid and the only work that's been done to it is what I've done (so its got a long way to go). He's my co-driver on this project and donated his 74 F150 to the cause for parts. But we both have kids and not much free time. That's why I'm...

You know how hard it is to find a short bed dentside? A long wheelbase would be cool if it would only be cruising on flat ground but losing 16" should make a difference in rougher terrain. Plus this one's already paid for haha.

Re: New Hauler!

On another note it just got real cold here. Mkwife bought tickets to a cirque de soleil show for tonight. She's been pumped to see it for weeks. I walked out and took a cab back to our hotel. I'm guessing I'm not getting any tonight when she gets back. It was terrible. I lasted about 15 minutes and ...

Re: New Hauler!

This might have to be added to the itinerary for next week. Will be in Vegas myself. All it costs is the cab fare. Its actually mostly a gift shop with some windows looking into the actual shop. But they do have some awesome cars in the tourist side, I'd say its worth it. They have examples of most...
