Crazy weather
My son is stationed in El Paso,TX in the Army. I sent him a text today about it being 80 degrees here. He said they were getting freezing rain mixed with snow. A couple of hours later he said they were getting hail. This was while I was putting 2 window A/C units in my bedroom and living room.

Now you know why our military started issuing M14s to soldiers going to Iraq. When my DIL left for Iraq tour #2 in Dec. '05 she was issued a M14 and a M4 carbine. When she returned she bought a M1A.

6.5x55, uses a .264" diameter bullet. The Swedes are said to be the most accurate of all the Mausers.

Re: ACK!!! I lost a part
I should have said "try guncrank." oops
I had to take the sideplate off my 66 once when the ejector rod backed out a little and cylinder release latch would not push it far enough to open. Was not too difficult, but I would not do it unless necessary.

The M38 is my favorite shooter.Next is the M96 1917. Someone ground the cocking piece on an angle, so it has almost a hair-trigger. Great for target work, but not for hunting I suppose. If I could only have 1 rifle, it would be a Swede.
